Hitachi America Helps Garland Independent School District Take Learning into the 21st Century
Installation of CP-X328W model projectors throughout district benefits teachers and students alike.
In an example of Hitachi America's ability to provide educators with advanced functionality, reliability
and qualified compatibility, the Garland Independent School District in Texas
has standardized on Hitachi CP-X328W model projectors. With 57,000 students in
64 schools ranging from pre-K to high school, the District intends to have in
excess of 1,100 CP-X328W models at the project's completion.
The Garland ISD has been installing projectors (sold and installed by Troxell
Communications) since August 2002, when the brand-new Sachse high school was
chosen as a location for the district to pilot the Hitachi projectors. The
projectors are Hitachi OEM models branded under Dukane. "We had 32-inch
televisions in every classroom and that size isn't big enough for all the
students in the classroom to see," said Jim Hysaw, Executive Administrator of
Technology, Garland ISD. "We tested the projectors in that school, and we
discovered that because the viewing area of the projector was so large, more
teachers were using them to display presentations."
The projectors are used in combination with Crestron RoomView software that
allows instructors to control the projector via computer. "We were extremely
deliberate in the decision-making process, and ultimately we decided on Hitachi
because their projectors have the best warranty, best lamp life, and best
overall quality," Hysaw added. "We figured out that to buy a higher-quality TV
was about the same price as buying a projector, so we decided that for a
comparable price, we could mount the projectors and add the Crestron program."
"It is so much easier to teach from a computer workstation when the students
can see what is being presented and hear audio clearly," said Cathy Barck, High
School Technology Coordinator, Garland ISD. "The CP-X328W Series projectors have
definitely made a difference in the way teachers teach and the way students
learn."
The CP-X328W Series features 2,000 ANSI lumens and XGA resolution. With a
six-pound footprint, the CP-X328W Series is packed with several high-quality
specifications. The CP-X328W Series features native XGA resolution for added
image clarity with a brightness of 2,000 ANSI lumens and a 350:1 contrast ratio.
Additionally, the CP-X328W Series features vertical and horizontal digital
keystone correction, making them ideal for classrooms, allowing educators to
work around seating arrangements where students can easily obstruct the path of
the projected image.
