Computer and Sega Dreamcast (VGA) output is great. Light output
is also very good.a |

Mitsubishi should discontinue the line. |

It is one of the worst quality control jobs I have ever seen.
After having paid 7K for this, I have had to send it in for repair
4 times, including one complete replacement through Mitsubishi's
emergency roadside assistance program.
Of the four times, twice for for "Software Corruption" which would
happen pretty randomly. The projector basically wouldn't boot up on
up on power-on. The other two times it has been because
random colored blobs (about 20x20 pixels) appear on various
parts of the screen.
All of this has been within about 14 months, despite very
good care, including cleaning the air filters regularly.
Overall, video de-interlacing and scaling is not very good.
Significant video processing is required for a high quality image
output. I see a lot of noise on component inputs (from various sources)
and pretty consistently on both of the units I have had since about
a year. |

mitsubishi should control lcd panel quality better. i spoke to a mfg rep who told me "no one makes a perfect lcd panel". However, i observed 5 other projectors at B&H in NYC(including the sister InFocus LP 770) that had no dead or full on defective pixels or other visable lcd defects.
mitsubishi should test their projectors using video essentials test DVD as i could see some video ringing around the 3.58 mhz color carrier frequency. that i didn't see in a sony vplw10ht,sony vplpx20,in-focus lp350, or plus u2-1130 xga. though i picked the x300 due to the color, contrast, and brightness of the mitsubishi x300. Note: the in-focus lp770 was on display at B&H in NYC same animal as the x300u. |

I recently purchased the mitsubishi x300U projector and found it to be a spectactular dvd video projector. However,it had a 3X5 pixel dead blue spot area on the lower right side of the image and no other defect in the first hour of operation. Then it was off for an hour;moved to a different position on again and a double red ring(about the size of a silver dollar) appeared on the left side of the screen. On turning the projector off and looking into the lens engine with a flashlight i could see a small piece of what appeared to be clear plastic that had fallen into view and was causing this hazy red image on the left side of the screen. happy for me, the dealer i purchased it from is going to replace it with a new one. I will tell more when i recieve the next unit. |
