Excellent picture. Allows you to choose 4:3 or 16:9 ratio. I purchased the unit for $2300. Great deal for a HDTV / XGA native unit. |

I am suprised at how bright 800 Lumens really is. Picture looks great as long as the screen is not too large and viewing distance is at least twice as wide as the screen. Cheap!

Component or RGB input, quieter fan, and a zoom lens would be great. |

When i received mine, it has some dust on the mirror array but NEC quickly had the product serviced for free. I paid $2308.00 plus $200.00 more for the screen. A bargain for the performance and better than a big screen. |

I agree with the other reviews that picture quality is very impressive, particularly the colour adjustment options. I find natural 1 gamma correction looks better for both business presentations and video alike, more vibrant than the flat standard setting. |

As far as home theatre is concerned ... if only it had a quiet fan. This unit is rated 'low to moderate' noise (39db), no worse than many others, but - maybe it's only my ears - I find it very intrusive. If anyone knows how to quieten it down, please, please let me know. |

Just an update. Go into the advanced menu and click the "white segment" to off and this projector metamorphizes from a presentation projector, that's great for home theatre, into a true home theatre "crawlie free" XGA DLP product that is capable is upsetting the "big boys" when used with a good progressive scan DVD player or HTPC. Use the natural 1 or natural 2 gamma settings. I marvel everytime I turn this thing on. Just a question - Does anybody at Projector Central know what crawlies are, and if not, why not? |

If Nec puts a zoom on this little dynamo and gives us a longer lamp life they will have a product that will revolutionize the market and devastate the home theatre projector manufacturers. |
| Comments: |
Hopefully this projector will inspire the other presentation maufacturers to take up the cause and produce great presentation projectors (for HT purposes)at reasonable prices with consumer friendly warranties. |

When hooked up to a good home theatre PC this little dynamo produces a dazzling picture with wonderful blacks and exceptional contrast. The colours literally pop off the screen.
A zoom would have been helpful and the short lamp life is disappointing, however, these can easily be rationalized away once you see the picture.
In my opinion the best kept secret in home
theatre! Nobody and I mean nobody knows about this projector for HT. See it for yourself, it may surprise you! |

A zoom wuld make it more versitile and more platable to the home theatre market. A longer lamp life would help too! |
