Application: nec vt 540
What I Like: The picture quality is amazing grand turismo 3 on the play station 2 is the sweetest thing going on . I wanted this since I was a kid the technology is really coming around. It was the best picture of all in its price range.
Suggestions: I bought a proscan line doubler and it made a major difference I think that a line doubler should be included. But you cant have everything!
Comments: I hooked everything with monster cable even bought the monster gaming cable. It really makes a difference props to NEC thanks for making my dreams come to at a somewhat afforadable price. The bose lifestyle 50 system makes this projector shine, All my friend are crazy jealous, but what's a playa to do!!!!!!

Application: Home Theater/PC connectivity
What I Like: Wow!!! Great Machine.Crystal clear pictures on DVD via component, colors are so rich and natural, quiet fan.PC connectivity text are very clear. Very Handy. No dead pixels, brightness is quite good.

Application: Home Theatre
What I Like: When hooked up to my Dell notebook the picture quality is sharp with no artifacts.
Suggestions: I am unhappy with the lamp life. I have only 500 hours on the unit and the lamp brightness has gone down at least 50%. In a semi-bright room the picture is not visible. I don't know if this is normal or whether the bulb that came with the unit is defective. The picture is very dark unless I increase the brightness substantially. They advertise 2000 hours on regular mode but I have already replaced the bulb at 500 hours.

Application: Home Theater
What I Like: Picture quality is outstanding. Quiet operation. I like the ability to "power down" the lamp for evening shows and save the lamp.
Suggestions: Size is important and the screen size at 17ft is a little small for me in the 16:9 ratio. My wife says it's still to big! Go figure
Comments: Easy set up, quiet operation, lots of additional menus if you want them. I use both teh s-video and the component inputs, DVD on one, dish on the other. I had the opportunity to demo several units and the VT540 produced the best picture for my home theater.

Application: Home Theater
What I Like: Easy set up.
Comments: I was planning on buying the Infocus 340, but heard complaints about the Halo and Rainbow effects. Dealer had an Infocus 350 and the NEC VT540 side by side. The NEC simply had the better picture.

I have been running the projector on my opaque wall in the den. Picture exceded my expectations.

The cost of the NEC was $3,595. The Infocus 350 was $4,100.

I am quite happy with my purchase.

Application: Home Theater
What I Like: Setup of the unit was easy. The Auto signal configuration makes setting this projector up a snap.
Suggestions: need more inputs--specifically 2 more RGB inputs would be very nice
Comments: This unit produces a very nice picture on my 10' screen. I have a computer, and an HDTV DirecTV system (RCA DTC-100) that produces an extremely sharp 1080i picture from both Satelite and Off-Air antenna signals. the 480i picture also looks very nice. My unit has 1 bad pixel but does not interfere with my viewing. it is only noticeable on a very black scene. it is 1 blue dot that rears it's head only when there is a very dark scene.

I am very happy with this projector.

Application: home theater
What I Like: great video projector
whisper quiet
great video-realistic color and no artifacts
economy mode lamp-3000 hr life
lightweight for presentations
Comments: would highly recommend this projector for home theater!!!!

S.A. PANICKER - Aug 31, 2000

Application: Normal Data & Video
What I Like: It is an incredible Projector from the NEC family.
Superb image quality with an edge to edge uniform brightness. Both Data and Video are excellent.
SXGA compresssion is smart. I played a DVD which yielded near plasma quality. The audio is good enough for an ordinary conference room.
It is an ideal projector for both professional presenters and home theatre users at a price below US$6K.
Suggestions: If your application is mainly power point presentation then the optional full function remote has to be bought separate for remote mouse. The slim remote is great but it does not have the mouse option. The full pack should include a soft carry case as well.
Comments: The best buy at a budget price, value for money.
