1st of all this unit is the same as an Mits. X70 (not the U series but the older ones). I bought this projector after doing a lot of research. I wanted a xga (1024*768) projector because I needed it for an occasional PPT presentation as well. The colors are a bit to green using default settings. But you can adjust it to be "almost" perfect. You need a calibration disk and some time to get it right, but the end picture is worth it. Also, make sure you hook it up to a PC. I watch al my DVD's using the internal PC DVD player and it's amazing. I also watch home video (DV camera) via the PC (using a Ati TV Wonder and DScaler) and that's where you can really see how good your projector is. After the adjustments the picture quality is amazing. Same for watching TV/Cable. Get a good VCR (I use JVC) with S-Video out and connect that to the TV Wonder. I watch a 10x6,5 feet screen from a 10 feet distance and I see hardly any screendoor (can even be removed completely with sharpness setting - although I prefer optimum sharpness and a littlebit of screendoor - my wife doesn't see it but I do because I know where to look for). I have no dead pixels (maybe lucky). All in all, I love this unit (especially for the price). They are discontinued but if you can get a good working unit for cheap, go for it. |
