The resolution is very nice with DVD's. Less impressive (more pixelation) with (non-HDTV) DiSH Network satellite. I'm probably going to have to spring for an HDTV DiSH Network satellite receiver.
The brightness is particularly impressive even in a well lit room. The contrasts are helped by ambient light and I don't have to stumble around or have lighted remotes.
I got the DVDO Pro Line-Doubler and Stewart 72" x 96" Custom Luxus Model-A ElectriScreen GreyHawk to project it onto and (I never thought there was such a thing...) it's too big! I've had to zoom it in a bit to watch regular TV. |

Consider coming out with a 4x3 - 16x9 version similar to the newer DLP projectors. A better stock Line-doubler/scaler would have been appreciated too. Keep up the great work Sanyo! |

Biggest bang for the buck. Very bright (watchable even with bright room lighting) and great color. Also all the things the other guys said. |

Overall, I'm very happy with this unit. I had a Yamaha DLP for $10000 and this unit is actually better to watch. The 2500 lumens really light up the screen (actually a grey wall). My room has huge picture windows on the wall opposite the screen and my wife won't let me block the "view" with curtains. Superbowl party was great even with the afternoon sun beating in. I've checked out fabric samples from screen manufacturers including the Stewart Greyhawk and they really aren't noticeably much better than my grey wall. The grey color brings the ambient light reflection down (for better blacks) while the PJ has enough lumens to kick out bright highlights. Highly recommend this projector to anyone. |

Every Japanese piece of electronics has crappy human engineering (do these guys actually use the stuff they design?). Although this projector rates a '95' in my book, here's the Piss&Moan list:
Has four LED status lights on it. Two are normally lit when the projector is OFF but one goes DIM to tell you the projector is ON!!! I have mine in an enclosure and can't hear it (the fan was rather loud) so it's hard to tell if it's off or just without signal.
Difficult to automate. The input selections, menu, power, etc. are all toggles and don't work well with X10 or other automation macros.
Bulb is ridiculously expensive. A lot of projector bulbs are available now for under a couple hundred bucks EXCEPT for this projector, which is around $450! I'd like to have a spare on hand for when the bulb goes out in the middle of a movie party but not at this price. (Also, there's no usage clock built into the menu which would be pretty easy to do and would give you some idea of life remaining).

You WILL be satisfied with this projector! |

We have ambient light from windows entering our family room, but the projector has more than sufficient brightness to overcome. You'll be sorry if you settle for something else! |

A powerful mix of brightness and contrast. I demo'd 4 different projectors and the 21N blows them all away. I didn't see a difference between LCD and DLP. |

Its so simple to set up and use. I had a CRT before, this is so much easier to use.Picture bright, clear, colors are perfect. Its so tiny compared to my former CRT, its hard to believe that an LCD Projector could be this good. |

Recommend this unit to anyone and everyone. For the price and quality, nothing is going to beat this unit. Trust Me.Iam projecting this on my old 8ft matte white pull down screen. It looks beautiful, dont see the added cost of adding a Gray Screen with small difference in picture quality. Those Gray Screens are too expensive, about third of what I paid for this unit. |

Get one today, and start enjoying full bright color movies ,without having go to a theater.I have mine connected to a Denon 4802 Receiver and the sound if unbelievable. Good Luck |

I have a living room that doubles as a home theatre. The Sanyo is excellent. I think of myself as more of an average kind of person as I do not have tons of experience with picture quality. Bottom line the Sanyo looks great shooting a white wall!!! I highly recommend this projector if you want to watch movies. A lot of people say "get a progressive DVD player". Personally I found the progressive setting in the projector to work at least as well. Try your current DVD player out first and then if you feel you need more then go to a progressive. It's a good as they say. |

Internal scaler poor for 480i feeds. |
| Comments: |
This is an excellent HT projector. I use it as aprimary TV, and the 2500 lumens provides enough brightness for
almost any room lighting situation (all I have encountered). It looks brighter (and with no glare) in comparison to RPTV.
The vividness of the colors is impressive (compared to DLP and RPTV's I have seen), similar to a tube TV IMO.
The MLA does significantly reduce screendoor, though in general I am not too sensitive to this artifact.
I am very happy with this unit, and highly recommend it.
Please feed it a 480p source or use an external scaler.
