Sufficient light output, sufficient resolution, good color reproduction, enough controls, can throw huge picture size, quiet fan, easy operation and it is Cheap!! |

The contrast ratio is a bit too weak. |

I use this thing only for HT appl. I can't afford a real HT projector but this thing performs!
My unit had a dead pixel near the center, and luckily the shop allowed me to exchange for a new unit even after 2 weeks of use... I am lucky! The second unit is perfect as far as the specs are concerned. The image quality is very satisfying considering the price... the main drawback is the contrast ratio... good enough but far from the cinema black ppl would ask for.. but hey! it's good enough. If you are on a tight budget, get this thing and you can easily impress your neighbors! I got it for about USD2,400... and I am a happy dude... |

The black level reproduction of the CS1 is impressive, close to if not comparable to that of CRT-type projectors. And it's picture quality is good. Also, I didn't notice much flickering and screen burns w/c is a common problem in an LCD-type. Only 600 ANSI Lumens? I think it's even more compared to other LCD of the same category. It's versatile, having adequate connections: an RGB HD D-sub input and an S-video;good for office and home theater application [although I personally think the CS1 is designed more for office application since its h.t. features are somewhat "limited"]. Its size, cosmetics & design is really ideal for "road warriors". |

To "complete" it's versetality, I suggest SONY strenghten the CS1's home theater feature such as: a]adding ceiling mount capability, b]improving keystoning [w/c is limited only from correcting the screen if the projector is placed on the floor projecting upward. Now how about from a high point projecting downward?]. Also, the menu should be added on the supplied remote to make set-up/settings easier. One thing I notice is that it seems to heat up fast. But I guess that's just ok, just dont't place the projector in a very confined area. |

Everthing considered, the CS1 is still an excellent value for its category, really cost-efficient. A must-own unit for on-the -go presenters. And after work, you may enjoy a DVD movie at your hotel. After all, that's what SONY is known for: Home entertainment. An advise though: try to limit screen size [ say up to 60 inches] if you want to achieve the best piture quality for the CS1 and to avoid "screen door" effects. All in all, the CS1 is a performer! |

Mobile Presentations/Home Theater |
| What I Like: |
I needed a projector that could serve in a dual role - mobile presentations and after work, home theater. The CS1 does a good job especially at the price point but I was disappointed that you could not ceiling mount the unit and the digital keystone correction only works one way - when pointed up - so you can not tray mount it on the ceiling and angle it down. The picture is very clean and despite a lower brightness rating than other projectors I looked at, surprisingly bright. Of course, with a lower lumen rating, contrast does indeed suffer but is acceptable. |

Better zoom, the ability to ceiling mount the unit, and get rid of that front door - I would rather have a height adjustment instead. |
