| What I Like: |
Very quiet (though not quite silent), front vent, simple menu operation, bright picture, excellent color. |
| Suggestions: |
Add a second component input allow RGB (VGA) signal to use its native resolution, and this is a real winner all around. |

When I first hooked this up to my home theater PC, I was really annoyed. The projector downconverts an RGB 1280x720 signal to 800x600! I couldn't believe it. Basically, you can only successfully use its native resolution with a component video source. *sigh*
There are two ways to deal with this. I tried both. The first is to feed it a progressive scan DVD signal. That worked great. The projector even includes the necessary cable.
I then tried the RCA VGA->Component transcoder. That worked too, but it visibly softened the image. It wasn't unpleasant, but I found the picture not enough improved to be worth the hassle. So I ended up taking the PC out of the picutre entirely. I may put it back in later, but not right now.
I like the color and brightness, but it needs contrast. I'm tempted to try a gray screen. The picture is bright enough to watch with some ambient light, but naturally looks better in total darkness.
The 16:9 native panel really makes all the difference for me, using it exclusively for DVD movies. My next plan is to try a HDTV receiver to see what kind of reception and quality I can get.
Bottom line, this one is a keeper for me. Low screendoor, good brightness, and no rainbows. The famous LT150 is going back. |
