Digital projection may never look like film projection. Film has the benefit of duplicating each frame with an equal pause between each opening an closing of the projector's shutter. This helps regulate the frames appearing on the screen and fools the eye to the point where movement seems "natural" (in a cinematic way). Digital projection does not empoy the same black out delay between frames and your eye will see the frame information of longer. This is why we se such a difference even when using 2:2 pulldown. It is the lack of darkness between frames which is not so evident with a digital display that is causing our problem.

I would have thought that DLP could provide us with the best cinematic experience, we just have to slow that colour wheel down, give it only white segments and then project through an LCD panel - hey maybe I've just invented the next Cinema digital format for that true film-like experience - we could always just go the the cinema and ask for film!
