A dandypunk is a harbinger of nonconformity. This one uses projection mapping in performance art that is a sheer delight to watch. In this short clip of a longer performance you cannot help but feel the energy generated by this type of interactivity with light, images, and concepts which could not be expressed as well in any other way. Check out this mixed reality performance which uses a virtual world as the platform from which to explore 3D immersive spatial virtual and physical displays. You'll witness the performer ´s body interacting with three dimensional space because of computer vision, skeleton tracking, and the output of 3D video projection mapping.

It is, of course, a very logical step--that is to combine dance and interactive media to completely alter perception and and communication. This blend, in my view only enriches art because by blending bodies and technology we create a hybrid entity that allows us to reach new heights for communicating ideas. What we are losing verbally we are gaining visually.more

This remarkable combination of dance and projection was created for Spain's TV3 charitable event "La Marato." They call this a vertical dance show but the wonder of it is lost in that translation. The video mapping comes from Tigrelab, a design and multimedia communication studio based in Barcelona and the amazing dance with light is the work of Sacude-- Spanish aerial choreographers and dancers whose craft blossoms at the intersection of 21st Century art and technology.

I am the first to admit that prior to viewing this video, I was completely ignorant as to the definition of Glockenspiel. But then a closer look made me realize that I'd seen one before, or at least something like it in a marching band at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. But that's not the reason I'm sharing this video. Creative Projection readers will appreciate the kind of creativity required to enlist the services of a pico projector and develop this interactive musical experience

This is a theatrical installation made of paper and projections.
The creators originally sought to create a full blown, life size theatrical performance that would mix video projections with live actors to create a totally immersive experience.more

I guess if I were to describe the goals of this this paper computing technology it would appear to be less than a good thing because from what I can tell it has the goal of being a paper-based version of Google Docs. What's up with that? However, once you consider that it is meant for collaborating artists, it makes more sense.more

The Quartier des Spectacles is Montreal's entertainment district and the perfect space for the work of artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. Articulated Intersect-Relational Architecture 18, was created for La Triennale Quebecoise 2011. Lozano-Hemmer's kinetic sculptures are known around the world but this is the first time the artist has produced something of this scale in the middle of a major city-- the place he calls home. The apparatus consists of eighteen 10,000-watt projectors. Six electromechanical levers, each connected to three projectors, will be manipulated by six participants to create sculptures in the downtown sky.more
