400:1 Contrast Ratio
2500 Lumens
$4,949 MSRP
Key Features: 802.11b/g wireless, 93% brightness uniformity, 30 degree keystone adjustment, 3.8lbs
Shortcomings: 400:1 contrast, image sharpness
The Epson Powerlite 765c weighs in at only 3.8 pounds (making it the lightest projector in this review), but puts out 2000 real lumens in presentation mode. This makes it an attractive option to those who need a very bright portable picture, but don't want to compromise on weight to gain more lumen output. Brightness uniformity is 93% on our test unit, which is excellent. At 400:1, contrast is more than sufficient for data projection, but may suffer slightly when projecting video or displaying photography. While image quality is good for the most part, small text sizes tend to appear fuzzy - especially along diagonals, such as those present on Ws, Vs, and Xs.
With a host of useful features such as 4x digital zoom, a digital pointer, and 30 degrees of automatic vertical keystone adjustment, the 765c is able to adapt to most presentation needs. And with the inclusion of 802.11b/g wireless, connections can be made in seconds without connecting cables.
