PROJECTIONDESIGN INTRODUCES FIRST DLP PROJECTORS WITH 1920 X 1200 WUXGA TECHNOLOGY
Ideal for computer centric applications
Ridgefield, NJ (March 12, 2008) – Norway’s projectiondesign announces
the introduction of the first ever 1920x1200 WUXGA high resolution
DLP® technology projectors.
WUXGA stands for Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array and has a
display resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (2,304,000 pixels) with a
16:10 screen aspect ratio. WUXGA resolution is being packaged in the
F10 and F30 series projectors and is set to be the highest resolution
display available in the market at this level. As a resolution much
sought after and requested by end users, custom installers and
systems integrators, it is an ideal fit for computer centric
applications rather than the more common 1080p, which tends to be
more focused on video centric applications.
WUXGA resolution fits the native resolution of many graphics cards,
including high-end laptops and portable computers. WUXGA resolution
gives more than 56% higher resolution over SXGA+, which is
projectiondesign’s most popular resolution today.
Importantly, the 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolution is also backwards
compatible with standard UXGA at 1600 x 1200 resolution, making it
ideal for upgrading older projection systems to wide screen. It also
secures full current and future computer compatibility for almost any
meeting room application. The new aspect ratio and high resolution
display reduces system complexity, and increases image fidelity in a
wide range of projectiondesign target applications. These include
scientific visualization and simulation markets in which
projectiondesign are considered pioneers, and as such are enjoying
significant growth.
Lars Yoder, Vice President & Manager, DLP® Front Projection, DLP®
Products, Texas Instruments Incorporated says: “we’ve had a long-
standing business relationship with projectiondesign who over the
years has produced many cutting-edge DLP products. They are viewed
throughout the industry as a leading technology innovator and we’re
delighted that they will be the first to use our new WUXGA resolution
DLP® Chipset in their projectors.”
“We’re delighted with the new WUXGA resolution offering. A lot of
our customers have requested the resolution to be available with our
high-end F series projectors and we believe that this introduction is
set to be just as important for the AV industry as the introduction
of 1080p, especially in the 3D, visualization and simulation, as well
as post production sectors.” adds Anders Løkke, Marketing &
Communications Manager at projectiondesign.
The F10 and F30 projectors both feature a variety of projection
lenses, and up to 3500 and 4100 lumens respectively. More model
variants and custom options are in the planning, and will be made
available shortly after the product becomes available in Q2 2008.
