P R E S S R E L E A S E Epson’s New Ultra-Short Throw Projectors Deliver Powerful Connectivity for the BYOD and One-to-One Classroom Epson PowerLite 570, 575W, 580, 585W Offer Bright Images with Advanced Features for the Connected ClassroomORLANDO, Fla. (FETC, Booth #631) – Jan. 29, 2014 – Epson, the number-one selling projector brand worldwide1, today introduced the Epson® PowerLite® 570, 575W, 580, and 585W – four bright, affordable and reliable ultra-short throw projectors designed for the connected K-12 classroom. Offering a Moderator functionality that allows a network of up to 50 personal devices to connect to the projectors, teachers can wirelessly control which personal devices are displayed, with up to four student screens shown simultaneously. In addition, the new projectors feature two HDMI ports, one with MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) support for connecting multiple digital devices, including mobile phones, tablets and other portable devices, for enriched high definition viewing capabilities. “Collaborative learning is essential to today's modern K-12 classroom, so Epson has engineered these new projectors to support the latest BYOD and one-to-one computing initiatives,” said Sara Kim, associate product manager, K-12 Education Marketing, Epson America, Inc. “The new Moderator feature makes it easier than ever to encourage students to share engaging content, while also providing teachers control of the content being displayed.” The new ultra-short throw PowerLite projectors minimize glare and shadow interference and deliver brightness and resolution options to accommodate a diverse range of classroom needs. More about the PowerLite 570, 575W, 580, and 585W Epson 3LCD projectors deliver three times brighter colors than leading competitive projectors3. Additional convenient and advanced features for educators include:
-Epson iProjection™: Leveraging the Epson iProjection app, teachers can present from most iOS Apple devices running iOS 4.2 or later, including the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®, and most Android devices running Android 2.3 or later Color Brightness Specification and Projector Performance The new color brightness specification (measuring red, green and blue) published by the Society of Information Display (SID) allows consumers to compare projector color performance without conducting a side-by-side shootout. With today’s high definition content, teachers and students can display content with higher quality in brighter environments. For a truly impressive image, projectors need to offer both high color brightness and high white brightness. High color brightness is important for larger screen sizes and provides flexibility for a variety of screen materials. Without sufficient color brightness, images may be muddy, soft and lose detail, even in a dark room. For more information, visit www.colorlightoutput.com. Availability and Support The Epson PowerLite 570, 575W, 580, and 585W will be available in April 2014 through national resellers, pro audio/visual dealers, mail order, distribution, and Epson.com.
