PANASONIC ENHANCES PT-L701/501XU SERIES OF ULTRA-PORTABLE LCD PROJECTORSUpgrades Include Higher Brightness, Contrast atios, Longer Lamp Life
LAS VEGAS, NV (June 13, 2001) -- Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company (Los Angeles, CA) has announced improvements to its PT-L701/501XU Series of ultra-portable projectors, including higher brightness, higher contrast ratios, and longer lamp life.
The new Series' five models are the PT-L711XU XGA (with Microlens Array) delivering 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness, PT-L701XSDU delivering 1200 ANSI lumens and SD Memory Card capabilities, the PT-L701XU XGA delivering 1200 ANSI lumens, the PT-L511XU SVGA delivering 1500 ANSI lumens, and the PT-L501XU SVGA delivering 1200 ANSI lumens.
Offering a refined, sleek design and weighing only 8.4 pounds, the projectors provide presenter-pleasing benefits such as the world's shortest focal lens in an ultra-portable unit; "Auto-Everything" Setup with digital keystone adjustment and built-in gravity sensor for a wide range of automatic adjustments; and a Digital Cinema Reality™ circuit that greatly improves the video quality of film-based video sources.
Small, light and full-featured, the PT-L711XU, PT-L701XSDU and PT-L701XU projectors offer a high contrast ratio of 400:1, 500:1 and 500:1 respectively, and display vibrant images in full 16.7 million colors in true 1024 X 768 native XGA resolution and maximum 1280 x 1024 SXGA resolution. The PT-L511XU and PT-L501XU offer contrast ratios of 350:1 and 200:1 respectively, with true 800 x 600 native SVGA resolution, while supporting display of 1024 x 768 XGA resolution.
For bright, up-close presentations, the value-rich projectors are each equipped with a large-diameter, extra-short throw lens that shortens the necessary projection distance by a full 25%, delivering 80" projection at as little as an 8.2' throw distance. The shorter projection distance saves space, allowing the projector to be placed at the front of a meeting table. Users can give comfortable presentations with large, easy-to-see images even in small rooms.
The one-touch "Auto Everything" Setup provides automatic keystone correction and auto input selection, allowing a user to automatically tune and adjust an image for optimal viewing. A newly-developed built-in gravity sensor detects the projector angle relative to the floor, then corrects for keystone distortion accordingly.
Panasonic, the leader in digital video technology, has integrated the most advanced digital signal processing technology into the PT-L701/501X Series, including the industry's first Digital Cinema Reality circuit, 10-bit Digital Gamma Correction, 3-Dimensional Y/C separation for NTSC signals, and an Intelligent Image Resizing circuit. The Intelligent Image Resizing circuit is integrated for VGA/SVGA/SXGA/Mac displays, assuring smooth outlines and outstanding picture definition with all types of images.
The PT-L701XSDU allows users to store their presentations (up to 64MB and higher capacities in the future) on a portable, postage stamp-sized SD Memory Card to deliver superb PC-less presentations and unattended, self-running, continuous-play presentations. The unit comes equipped with 16MB SD Memory Card, PCMCIA Card Adapter, and JPEG Converter Software. The projector offers SD Memory Card presentation functions including Auto Slide Show, which automatically shows the data from an SD Memory Card in succession; Capture, which captures and saves the displayed screen directly onto an SD Memory Card in JPEG file format; and Thumbnail Display, which provides an index-type display of all the images on an SD Memory Card and allows the user to change the image sequence.
Refined for video presentations, the five projectors are HDTV compatible, automatically resizing 1080i and 720p images for 16:9 wide-aspect display; 480p, 480i and 625i component video signals and S-Video can also be displayed in either 4:3 or 16:9. The units offers broad compatibility ranging from NTSC, M-NTSC PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, PAL 60, and SECAM.
The PT-L701/501X Series provides a unique Index Window, which allows any image in a presentation (RGB or video input) to be frozen, stored in memory and displayed on the left side of the screen, while display of subsequent images continues on the right. For example, a plan's outline can be displayed in the Index Window to the left, while details are displayed to the right, achieving a multi-window effect from a single presentation source, with no special preparations necessary.
The projectors also offer two-mode lamp operation -- Standard or Save --with lamp life of the Save mode now increased to 4000 hours. Designed for use in dark rooms, the Save mode utilizes a lower lamp power that mitigates energy consumption, yielding twice the lamp life while reducing fan noise. For greater presentation flexibility, two RGB input terminals are provided for connecting two computers at the same time.
Additional features include a 9X digital zoom and focus, card-size remote control (storable in the projector), RS-232C computer interface, two built-in 1-watt stereo speakers, selectable seven-language on-screen menu, advanced shutter function, S-Video compatibility, and an universal AC power supply (100 to 240 V). The projectors, which feature a long-life (2000 hours at standard power mode and 4000 hours at lower power mode) 165-watt UHM lamp, are capable of front, rear, desktop or ceiling mounted projection on screens ranging in size from 40" to 300".
Panasonic offers a high level of service and support with a three-year limited warranty on the projector, a 90-day warranty on the user-replaceable lamp module and a 24-hour projector exchange program.
The PT-L711XU, PTL701XSDU and PT-L701XU, will be available in the Fall at suggested list prices of $6,995, $6,295, $5,995 respectively. The PT-L511XU will be available in July at a suggested list price of $4,495, and the PT-L501XU will be available in August at a suggested list price of $3,995.
