Wireless home theater reference design features AnyPlace front-projection solution and XCode wireless video processing for "large screen" viewing anywhere

San Jose, Calif. (June 2, 2003) - Silicon Optix and ViXS Systems will demonstrate their joint reference design for wireless video projection -- the home theater projection platform of the future -- at Infocomm 2003 in booth #3647.

The Wireless Media Center solution based on ViXS' XCode real-time wireless video processing technology, combined with the AnyPlaceT flexible projector placement technology from Silicon Optix, represents the most flexible, easy-to-use and highly integrated wireless video projection solution available to OEMs of projectors and display devices today.

Silicon Optix's AnyPlaceT technology enables a projector to be placed almost anywhere in a room by adjusting for the projection angles to the screen while maintaining high image fidelity. AnyPlaceT technology supports off-axis projector placement of up to +/-40 degrees horizontally and +/-30 degrees vertically allowing for unprecedented viewing flexibility and versatility in home theater applications.

ViXS' Wireless Media Center reference design is a complete solution available to OEMs for immediate deployment of wireless video products in ultra-low cost point-to-point or multi-stream applications. At the core of the reference design is ViXS' XCode and ABFM network management software, which provide real time transrating and transcoding of multiple SD/HD video streams, and ViXS' Matrix, an 802.11a high performance component optimized for video applications. This combination provides the only complete system that can transmit high-quality, guaranteed quality-of-service (QoS) SD/HD video over standard Wi-Fi networks.

Currently available 802.11 wireless client/server solutions are data centric in nature and are not well suited to the real-time requirements of high-quality video transport. AnyPlaceT front projection technology from Silicon Optix combined with the ViXS Wireless Media Center allow for limitless projector placement now that both the need for on-axis projection and signal wires have been eliminated.
