SANYO INTRODUCES NEW HD-PROPORTIONAL LCD PROJECTOR AND MULTIMEDIA PLASMA DISPLAY FOR HOME ENTERTAINMENT

Advanced Technology Compliments Each New SANYO Product

Indianapolis, September 5, 2003, CEDIA - SANYO Fisher Company's Presentation Technologies Division, whose parent company is one of the world's largest manufacturer of LCD projectors, introduces two new advanced home entertainment products: the PLV-Z2 wide-screen multimedia projector and the 42" PDP-42WV1AS multimedia plasma display.

With a wide 16:9 (1280 x 720) aspect ratio, the PLV-Z2 is great for viewing DVD or High Definition source material. The HD-proportional panels make it an ideal match for viewing 16:9 wide-screen DVD movies (480i, 480p) and HDTV (720p, 1080i) format programs. For High Definition sources, the panels provide better scaling and improved image quality than typical wide VGA resolution panels. The PLV-Z2, with 700 ANSI Lumens, has a remarkable 1200:1 contrast ratio for picture optimization. Lens shift and a short zoom lens make it adaptable and versatile for home use. SANYO employs a whisper-quiet fan technology so you can clearly hear everybody eating their popcorn and the movie audio.

The PDP-42WV1AS multimedia plasma display boasts a phenomenal 4000:1 contrast ratio. This achievement results in a crisp, detailed picture with deeper, richer blacks. The SANYO plasma display also provides real-time correction of the graduation in both white and black sections of an image. This unit incorporates SANYO's newly-developed Plasma Dynamic Automatic Image Control, which delivers smooth images with 1024 steps of graduation. Thanks to a new processing LSI, a viewer can enjoy video and computer images at the same time with PAP (side by side) or PIP (picture in picture).

"These two units are quite affordable, yet deliver big-time technology for home entertainment enthusiasts," said Mark Holt, vice president, SANYO Presentation Technologies.

The MSRP on both products has not yet been set and both are due out this fall.
