ViewSonic Debuts PJ258D DLP Projector With iPod Dock
PJ258D Expands Consumers’ Views While Providing Style, Versatility and Performance in a Palm-Sized Device
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2007 – Incorporating its innovative ViewDock™ technology across another
product line, ViewSonic ® Corp. today announced the world's first High Definition, fully-featured,
multifunction, "Made for iPod," DLP ® front projector. The PJ258D brings new digital lifestyle
entertainment options to iPod ® enthusiasts with video by giving them the portable display technology
to take viewing experiences from "pocket" size to life-size, without the need of a computer.
Studies have shown that iPod users are three times as likely to download video clips, movies
and Web casts to their computers, making the PJ258D perfect for sharing personal media content.(1)
Mimicking the sleek design of the iPod and weighing less than 4 pounds, the PJ258D is a portable
powerhouse ideal for teens, young adults, home theater enthusiasts, and business professionals
looking to bring the benefits of their digital media content to any environment—from living room walls
and basements, to well-lit hotel rooms and conference rooms.
Much like the iPod, the PJ258D was designed with ease of use and versatility in mind. The
docking station connects the iPod with video directly to the projector to eliminate the need for a
computer to project video content. In addition, it charges the iPod's battery while digital content is
being played to make hours of entertainment possible. The projector also supports other popular
digital media through its multiple connectivity options, including S-Video and VGA, which enable users
to quickly connect to PCs, DVD players and video game consoles.
"Advances in digital technology have produced a new generation of consumers who want their
information and entertainment to be as instant, as mobile and as real as they are," said Jeff Volpe,
vice president of marketing, ViewSonic Americas. "The PJ258D is ViewSonic's latest example of how
innovative technology can meet these demands to continually redefine how people access, view and
bond over sharing favorite content."
Built on Texas Instruments' award-winning DLP platform, the PJ258D boasts a sharp
1024x768 XGA resolution, 2,000 lumens of brightness and a 2000:1 contrast ratio to deliver bright,
crisp pictures and video playback in any setting.
The PJ258D will be available in Q1 through authorized ViewSonic professional audio-visual
resellers, distributors and solution providers for an estimated street price of $999. The projector will be
sold with ViewSonic's superior customer support program that includes a three-year limited product
warranty, 24/7 technical support and one year of Express Exchange ® service at no additional charge.
ViewSonic also provides a one-year lamp warranty.
