Personal Experience
Bought my X1A june 2005 and Im on my second Lamp and its still a great model for the money. Replacment lamps are very reasonably priced considering mine have lasted almost as long as they are rated for and I use this as my primary display for PC and home theatre/gaming duty everyday. Currently using a 9foot wide section of curtain backer available from any fabric store as a screen and its great. Rivals every sub $1000.00 screen Ive seen sofar. Running approx 100inches 4X3 and about 97inches 16X9 and the images are still great. I love this thing and will probably always keep it around even after I jump up to a true 720P model.

Problems
After about 1 year of use the primary Lamp cooling fan stopped pulling full voltage from the PCB so it wouldnt spin up. Me being the geek I am direct wired it to a 12volt external transformer, no big deal but something did fail on the board. Not a big deal but I did have to buy a remote from InFocus for $32.00 Works great though.
