Personal Experience
I bought this for a friend who was looking for an inexpensive projector. The first standard definition projector i have tried. I own Optoma H78DC3 myself and I have had a Hitachi D5 LCD and Optoma H76 before. I definitely prefer DLP over LCD. The image is more film-like and colors and contrast are way better. However, it does not come close to an HD projector in my opinion. If money is not an issue, better to go for a DLP HD because SDE is very noticeable while I haven't seen SDE on any HD projector I have tried in the same distance from the screen. H31 is also noisier than those HD projectors I have tried. Aside from SDE, the image quality is great.

Problems
This projector does NOT have lens shift. I think this should be corrected in the specifications. It is disappointing with Optoma misleading the buyers. We basically chose this over IN72 because we thought there was lens shift. 'Shifting' only cuts upper or lower part of the image. Who wants to miss part of the image in name of shifting?
