The first thing I have to say is: Don't buy one! I, along with many other users have had nothing but problems with this projector. Which is too bad, because the picture quality is really quite good for the price, and the features are great. Of course the reliability is somewhere between lousy and none.
My sordid affair: I purchased the PE7700 almost 2 years ago, and after a couple hundred hours my bulb blew. I sent it in for warranty work (there was a recall on the bulbs / firmware) but a couple months later it burned out again. So back in it went, another new bulb and they had "forgotten" to upgrade the firmware (which just turns up the fan speed). So I get it back and after about a month the thing starts vibrating.... cooling fan is shot, but try telling the customer service rep that. So I send it out again, it comes back, and is still vibrating! I mean this thing will walk off a table it is shaking so bad. So I finally managed to get ahold of a manager at Benq, who authorized an exchange. So they sent me a "new" refurbished PE 7700, which for the last six months has ran with little trouble. In total I have only had the projector for about half the time that I have owned it, It has been out for repair that much. Since I am now out of waranty when this thing blows up again, I sure won't be buying a Benq. |
