Personal Experience
This was the first projector I owned and I kept it for about a year. I decided I wanted one while watching the Superbowl in my brother-in-law's expensive home theater a couple of years ago. The experience was amazing. I knew I couldn't afford what he had so I picked up what I could afford. I won the EP719 on auction site for $315. It was in excellent shape but was advertised as having a bad VGA port which I figured was ok because all I needed was the DVI. Well, the DVI was bad too. I called Optoma and found that the unit was still under warranty. They sent me an RMA and I shipped it to them overnight. They repaired it free of charge and shipped it back to me overnight! The picture was outstanding! It was bright and had great colors. No problem with color saturation. I used it mainly for watching football but would catch an occasional tv show or movie on it. I would definitely recommend this unit.
Problems
When watching movies, dark scenes can be a bit difficult to see/watch. The blacks are not as black as they should be and can blend into grays. Rainbows are more visible during dark scenes as well. But I tried to keep in mind that this was designed as a data projector.
