Personal Experience
This is by 3rd Projector (Sony VPLHS-10 and Sanyo Z-4) previously. The Epson is far superior in every way. It was difficult to make the decision to buy this one over the Panasonic PT-AE2000 due to the negative comments concerning its low power noise, the Epson being louder. Nevertheless, based on a hands on evaluation I made my choice and have not looked back. It is located 5' above and to the rear of my seeting position and I hear virtually nothing in Theater Black 1. It is louder in its bright settings for sports, but there is so much commotion during games that it is still acceptably quiet. Black level is outstanding and shadow detail as reported,is very good. I am using a 1.0 Draper white screen. Sitting 1.1 screen widths 92"(106" Diagonal)away makes the screen door effect non existant. Out of the box settings only required a change to 6500 degrees and a switch to auto-iris on. By the way I cannot hear this device working as images change. Installation on my ceiling was no problem using a Chief dedicated mounting plate connected to my existing Chief mount.
