| After 30 months and over 1,600 hours of use, I have absolutely no complaints about this unit. My previous projector was a -used- 3 CRT Vidikron. Although the contrast was phenomenal, the brightness was limiting me to a 60" screen. Getting the H31 was a major upgrade in many areas ... brightness, native widescreen, ease of use, transportability, etc ... The H31 has a very good picture with standard DVDs and just beautiful with OTA HD. When trying out the connections, I ended up having my oppo connected via DVI, and the HD tuner via component (I bought all my cables from BlueJeans Cables and they are excellent). I left all the setting to default. The screen is a 92" grey fixed frame Elite screen. I have a couple other remarks regarding "lamp" projectors in general and DLPs: 1) DLP: The rainbow effect was really bothering me at first, but I ended up -kinda- used to it. It was more frequent on DVDs versus OTA HD. Timing issues? 2) Projectors: I had a power outage while watching a movie. Since the power did not return for several hours, the bulb didn't cool properly and I ended up having start up problems with a "lamp error" light on. I temporarely corrected the issue by un-plugging and re-plugging the projector from the wall. Lesson learned: I'm getting a UPS for my next projector! 3) Bulb price: they HAVE to come down!! Since I don't feel like spending $300 on a new bulb, I just bought a panasonic AX-200U. I will retire the H31 and use it for movie and video game nights when I go over to friends who still watch TV on a 60" screen!!!! |

| I got spoiled by my setup and didn't enjoy watching movies anywhere else except -maybe- the movie theater. |
