WOW is the first word that comes to mind when viewing this unit's remarkable picture. And it still holds true three weeks and 175 hours later. I believe this projector to cost half what it should. An absolutely astonishing value.
From a technical standpoint it definately holds it's own. I'm obsessive when it comes to calibration. And this thing is dead on out of the box, with Dynamic Black and. Brilliant Color off. And with DB on, you get a nice gamma curve to keep highlites bright in dark scenes. I had a Infocus 4805, Optoma HD72 and have two RS-1 in the family, as well as several Marantz's available for viewing, all great FP's. I could have bought anything. I bought the W5000. Despite all the important aspects of a FP, contrast, lumens, color accuracy, etc the most important to me is does it look real. Does it have that transparent, looking out the window effect and can it have this POP factor on a 106" or bigger screen. The W5000 certainly does. BTW, I have firmware 1.12 and properly setup, noise has never been an issue. The greatest compliment I can give this FP is I consider it a reference component. You see what the disc and source is showing, good or bad.
