Personal Experience
Holy cow. I've been researching the HD1000U, then the HC1500 (the updated model) and the recent HC1600 for over a year now. I chose the HC1500 over the HC1600 because the 1500 has 7 color segments over the 1600's 5. I haven't been able to find if the 1600 has a faster rotating wheel, so I got the 1500 before they went away. My only regret is not getting it sooner. It is as good as they say. I'm using a Pioneer Elite DV-46AV upconvert DVD player HDMI, and DVD's look better than I ever thought they could. Just wow. I have a controlled light room, so I run it on econo mode, and the light is still a little bright. I will fix this with repainting my walls (still off white). I can see this projector working well in a semi-lighted area, as in normal mode it is very bright. The colors are fantastic. Watched the Fifth Element on it 2 days ago. Saw many things I never saw before (like the prebroken glass when Leelu punches through the tube) and various other minor details. I totally recommend this projector. if you have been hmming and hahing over it, just do it. Seriously, it is this good.
