Personal Experience
I have 1800+ hours on this projector and have owned it for about 2 years. The image projected is very satisfactory for a 720p, although the smoothscreen tech makes it a bit less sharp than a standard lcd. The colors and color control are outstanding; I have never seen an lcd reproduce better color, nor allow me to adjust color reproduction like this model. The iris does improve black levels quite a bit, but like all lcds there is light bleed through on blacks. the lens shift works great and I've never had a problem hitting the screen from wherever I place the unit (I have used the unit in many different locations).

Problems
Early on in my ownership of the ae900u I felt the lcd panel was a bit crooked so I sent the unit in to panasonic for repair. The tech support was VERY helpful and immediately gave me an rma and a shipping slip to send it in. I asked the tech if I could send the unit in without the lamp to prevent damages, he said of course. I had the projector back in about two weeks, and, as I had imagined, they had sent it back with a new bulb in it as well as replacing the optical block. Best rma experience I have ever had.
