Panasonic PT-AE2000U User Opinion
| Personal Experience |
I bought this projector after seeing my friends PT-AE1000 and I love it! I did a ton of research and this is by far the best projector for the money. Much more expensive projectors do have a little better contrast and image detail in darker scenes but that is the only noticeable side-by-side advantage.
My goal was to duplicate the cinema experience as closely as possible. My setup is a 108ā x 45ā 2.4:1 StudioTek 130 Widescreen using Anthem AVM-50 pre-amp and the PS3 Blu-Ray/DVD player. BTW - If you have a light-controlled room, do NOT use a gray screen. My dealer tried to sell me on this idea and Iām glad that I tested both materials first!
The built-in Cinema1 mode almost perfectly matches the D6500K standard out of the box. This is important if you want to watch movies the way that the Director intended. Also, I am not using the expensive anamorphic lens which costs twice as much as the projector. I am hoping that future models will have this capability built in. That said, this projector has a powered zoom and focus that is very useful for my setup. A powered lens shift would be perfect because I still need to adjust this when I switch from HD/SD to Widescreen (are you listening Panasonic).

| Problems |
| Problems are minimal. Using the Avia setup disk, I can see a some red noise when viewing the pure gray test patterns. I also noticed this on other LCD projectors. Perhaps it is an issue with calibrating the LCD screens at the factory. Not a big deal since it is unnoticable during normal viewing. My biggest complaint is the fan noise. Again, not excessive when watching movies at a reasonable volume but noticeable during quieter scenes or when playing music. Overall, I am very happy with my configuration.
