Personal Experience
We've had our Boxlight XD-17k for 3 weeks now. It works great. The XD-17k is bright with a high contrast. I'd like more contrast, but 500:1 is pretty good. We use it in our living room projecting onto a pull-down screen. It is bright enough to use with small lights on, but "really" shines in a dark room. We also take it outside and project onto the garage wall for "drive-in movie" parties!! I can bring home DLP projectors from work and have tried out various Plus systems including the Plus Piano. The XD-17k beats them all. Especially in the area of light leakage (the Piano leaks a _lot_) and zoom/focus. The XD-17k can zoom making it easier to position in various room sizes. Positive: size, brightness, on-screen menu, remote, light leakage (very little of this), lots of connectors on back, zoom and focus. An all around great machine!
