Personal Experience
Hello -

I bought this projector for it's features. 2000 lumens, HDTV compatible, etc. It's in a very nice sized package, and seems to be built well.

The size of the picture is truly incredible. I've filled my entire back wall of my rectangular living room (10' X 8') with beautiful images. People are just amazed with it. My sound system sounds much better as well, because that huge big screen TV isn't directly in between the mains. I have Dish Network, and the image is so large that one can see the MPEG compression artifacts that aren't noticable on a smaller set. DVDs are just plain awesome, even though I use standard s-video. I don't have the component adaptor box yet.

In terms of picture quality, I'm sorta disappointed, but perhaps my expectations were too set to highly. The room must be very, very dark - otherwise, dark images will get washed out. I sometimes eat dinner while watching movies, and it's very difficult to eat in the dark. Sometimes, I think the tint goes haywire where one image looks stunning, and in the next the flesh tones are off. I've calibrated the picture with the Avia DVD, but I still don't think it looks as good as my 27" TV.

I inquired with customer service about the color issue, and they're going to ship out a replacement unit!! I was extremely impressed with the quality of Infocus customer service. We'll see if this clears up any issues.

Bulbs seem to be expensive at $400, and they last about 2000 hours in High power mode. I run my projector on Low power, which should increase the lifespan of the bulb. The expansion connector that has the Component video and more VGA inputs is $400 as well. I can't wait to try it with a component input on a progressive scan 720p signal!
