| I purchased this unit for $3000 a little over 5 months ago as a dedicated home theatre projector run off a HTPC for a small apartment. It's brightness/contrast specs couldn't be beat for the price at the time. The short-throw lens also works well in a small apartment environment. You can put the unit on a coffee table in front of you and still get a BIG picture. Color and brightness were good, although you need to get the room pretty dark for good results. Overall, if you can sort out the issues with getting the HTPC working well, the unit did an admirable job for it's specs. When using a HTPC you really don't need any of the fancy descalers, line doubles, motion compensation etc, it can all be done better in software and/or a decent video card (mine is a ati radeon 7500). |
