Personal Experience
I just recently got into projectors as i've always wanted the larger than life sized image but couldn't justify paying 10s of thousands of dollars for what they use to cost. But now that these LCD projectors are available just about anyone can afford one and I must say I don't regret this purchase for one second. I was using a 27" regular RCA TV and steped up to a 119" Projection HDTV format image which quite literally fills the entire wall. I was simply blown away by the image I got from it. 99.9% of the time I run the projector in cinema black mode (which is around 750 lumens) on a Da-Lite High Contrast Da-Mat screen and it gives a pleanty bright, high contrast image and I couldn't be happier with it. Though the projector looks good right out of the box it needs a good amount of adjustment using the service modes to balance the RGB and get the most out of it but once thats done and you've adjusted the usual contrast, brightness, color, etc, watch out! Don't believe the people that say projectors can't be used unless your room is completely black, this thing works just fine with quite a bit of light in the room. Granted all projectors look their very best in pitch black (even regular TVs look their very best in complete darkness if you think about it) but its very watchable with quite a bit of light in the room even when in cinema black mode. Make sure you visit forums on this projector as you will find it invaluable with helping you fine tune and adjust it. One thing I really liked about the VPL-VW10HT is the amount of connections it has, so one may hook all of their components directly to it without any switchboxes needing to be involved. Also Get a progressive scan DVD player and prepare to be blown away. And playing XBOX on this in 720p is something to behold. I purchased this projector refurbished at projectorpeople.com for $3200 and theres not one thing wrong with it. They didn't have the refurbished on the web site as an option anymore but I called them and they had a handful on hand. This is a great first time and what I consider an entry level projector, it's very easy to use and delivers a beautiful image for the price. All in all I would say if you have the means and you want a proven reliable projector this is it.

Problems
The VPL-VW10HT is a bit older model in comparison to the newest projectors and is missing some of the new features like 3:2 pulldown but you won't miss it if you get a decent progressive scan DVD player and even if you didn't you probably wouldn't be missing it all that much. Theres a lot of talk about the blacks not being black enough but let me tell you if you get a high contrast screen, run the projector in cinema black mode and adjust the contrast and brightness correctly you'll get very good blacks. Also the bulb I hear lasts half as long as the newer models such as the VPL-VW11HT and i'm sure the new VPL-VW12HT. But for the price I paid for this projector, something like half as much as the VPL-VW11HT and most likely even more than that for what the VPL-VW12HT will cost i'm not complaining. Other than these few minor things theres no real problems with this projector. Again out of the box it looks great but if you want impress your friends great, you need to adjust all of the picture settings and especially the RGB settings in the service menu. Be patient with the settings because you'll find yourself constantly adjusting and re-adjusting for at least the first few weeks. One more thing, be sure to get a picture calibration disk, you'll need it to make these very necessary adjustments.
