I had first purchased a DLP projector. The rainbow effect drove me nuts! So, LCD was next. I compared tons of features and prices and came up with the 550. I think this projector rocks as long as you use a Hi-Def input. I come right off my componant output of my hi-def cable box and the pics are sharp and crisp. If you use composite or non hi-def, the images appear a bit out of focus. Now, having said that, my Dell DLP model I returned did the same thing. The projector is nice and bright even in the quite mode (which slows the fan down for less noise and dims the lamp).

| Problems |
The only problem was the distance I wanted to mount the projector from the screen. My projector is about 11 feet ceiling mounted, my screen is 72 inches long. The issue I had was the projector will not zoom in enough to just stay on the screen (my picture was too big!). I moved the projector 8 1/2 feet away and that took care of that issue. Do I recommend this model, yes! Great value for the money. I paid $1274. Be careful with Dells prices. They wont tell you if there is sale. Feel free to e-mail any questions. |
