Personal Experience
I had first purchased a DLP projector. The rainbow effect drove me nuts! So, LCD was next. I compared tons of features and prices and came up with the 550. I think this projector rocks as long as you use a Hi-Def input. I come right off my componant output of my hi-def cable box and the pics are sharp and crisp. If you use composite or non hi-def, the images appear a bit out of focus. Now, having said that, my Dell DLP model I returned did the same thing. The projector is nice and bright even in the quite mode (which slows the fan down for less noise and dims the lamp).

Problems
The only problem was the distance I wanted to mount the projector from the screen. My projector is about 11 feet ceiling mounted, my screen is 72 inches long. The issue I had was the projector will not zoom in enough to just stay on the screen (my picture was too big!).
I moved the projector 8 1/2 feet away and that took care of that issue. Do I recommend this model, yes! Great value for the money. I paid $1274. Be careful with Dells prices. They wont tell you if there is sale. Feel free to e-mail any questions.
