Personal Experience
I've had this projector for 8 months now, and am very happy with it. I use it for DVDs via the component inputs, and playing computer games via the DVI input. Before buying, I was concerned about the reports of vertical banding, SDE, etc., and while there might be a slight amount of these, the overall quality of the image outweighs those defects, in my opinion. The main point is that once I started watching and enjoying movies on it, my concerns quickly went out the window. So either the VB and such are very slight, or maybe I am not as much of a pefectionist as I thought. :)

I do have some dust on the panels, which is visible in dark scenes. Funny thing is, the dust appeared (about 3 or 4 pieces) during the first 2 weeks that i had the projector, but hasn't gotten any worse in the 8 months since. Anyway I plan to open it up and clean it, but haven't tried that yet. Also, if you plan on using this for a HTPC setup, keep in mind that the LCD panels seem to only operate at 60 Hz, even though the projector accepts a much wider range of vertical frequencies. The problem is that, when playing DVDs on your PC via the DVI cable, it's hard, if not impossible, to set a vertical refresh rate on your PC to match the progressive frame rate of the movie. 24 or 25 fps just do no divide into 60 Hz evenly. So motion will never be smooth in this configuration. I believe this is called "judder". It's especially bad with scenes of side-to-side motion, like a long camera pan, or a spaceship flying by or somthing. Some people use a program called Reclock to deal with this, but i haven't gotten into it. I don't know if other projectors suffer from this as well, but i'd imagine that many of them do. It's annoying, but whether it's a show-stopper or not is up to you. One other tiny annoyance is that when hooked up to a PC (I am using an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, with DVI), the Z2 doesn't seem to handle the plug & play stuff as well as standard PC monitors do. It reports a maximum resolution of 1024x768, so, depending on your video card, you may have do some tweaking to get it into native 1280x720 mode. Luckily, the latest ATI drivers have a "Force 720p" option, which takes care of this.
