Personal Experience
After previously owning a Barcovision 700 (CRT), I am thrilled with this unit! I have owned it for a year, and have just added the pink lens from Steve Smallcomb, and adjusted the RGB, using his Smart II program. The only problem I've encountered has been the bright grey vs black that all LCDs present. The Smart II program brought these greys down to an acceptable level, and I'll soon be getting a Stewart Firehawk screen to help out even more. I'm using an I-Scan Pro deinterlacer to feed all my inputs (DVD, Laserdisc, S-VHS, and MiniDV, and the picture is just stunning, in terms of color intensity, color balance, image clarity, and lack of introduced artifacts (other than what show up on source material. The unit is versital, and incredibly easy to set up and operate. Sony just cleaned the unit under warrenty, did a great job, and replaced (at my request) the filter with their new filter unit. I'll buy something better (such as the Marentz, just on the market) someday, when DVI and Firewire inputs are included, along with Hollywood's getting their act straightened out with some copy protection that is acceptable to them (if they ever do). In the meantime, I'll stick with the Sony, and be glad for it!

Problems
See above, grey vs black levels. Dust blobs, which required cleaning of the unit's air path.
