Personal Experience
Personal Experience This review is specifically for the Optoma EzPro 745. I've read numerous reviews which state that the Optoma EzPro 739 is the same as the EzPro 745. In fact, this was confirmed by Optoma when I called to ask why I can't find info or reviews on the 745 anywhere. They told me that the models were basically identical. When I bought the 745, based on the 739 reviews here and on the A/V Forum, I was very wary because of reviews which mentioned the terrible video picture with composite connections. I had decided to purchase the 745 anyway, but had decided to defintely buy a component to VGA cable ASAP. Imagine my pleasant shock and astonishment when I hooked up my DVD player with the included composite cable. The video picture is beautiful. Crystal clear, no noise, no fuzziness, no graininess, no rainbow effect. Great text on subtitles, and a simply gorgeous picture. Also, other mentioned the need for extensive color adjustments. Except for a few adjustments for brightness, my 745 played perfectly right from the box. Plus, they have different length warranties. Hence, I find it hard to believe that the 739 and the 745 are the same. They may be similar, but if they are the same, why the tremendous difference in composite picture? Bottom line: Great projector!
Problems
Problems The on/off button doesn't shut the projector down. It starts to flash, and you can't tell when to pull the plug and when the bulb is off. This is a problem since the main 2 things which will shorten the bulb life: 1) Turning the projector on and off and on again. and 2) Pulling the plug early before the fan has had a chance to run for a few minutes and cool off the bulb after the bulb goes off.
