Personal Experience
The Epson 550 is a better projector than the Panasonic and Sanyo, period. Panasonic and Sanyo have good projectors, sure, but the picture on the Epson is just as good (if not better) than its competition. And along with that, The Epson has what the competition sorely lacks--brightness.

The picture on the AE900 and PLV-Z4 is pretty dull compared to the Epson 550 (I have compared them). The Epson is the only one that couples high contrast ratio with a vibrant, rich, bright picture.

Right now, this is the only projector to get in this price range. Until Panasonic and Sanyo step up and make their projectors brighter, they have been outdone by the Epson 550. I would personally like to have a 150" projected image, so I'm hoping that one of the projector manufacturers will hurry up and come out with a reasonably priced 2000 ANSI Lumen LCD Projector with a high contrast ratio. I'll buy that the day it comes out.
