| Got it during Christmas through the same discount as some of the previous reviewers; unfortunately, after a good amount of testing and fiddling, I decided to return it, due to the muddiness and low contrast in darker scenes of movies. Ironically, the two features I had initial concerns for -- low SVGA resolution and possible rainbow effect due to 2x wheel -- were non-issues. The projector scaled down XGA input from my laptop just fine (enough to easily read small text in a browser window), displayed wide-format (854x480) DVD movies sharply, and I didn't notice any rainbow effects. However, as much as I wanted to like it, I couldn't ignore the notable lack of contrast and severe loss of gradient details under darker scenes and elements (e.g., first few minutes of LOR). This issue was most pronounced when driving it through VGA from either of my two laptops. Movie quality was brighter and better when connected to my progressive scan DVD player over S-video, but the lack of contrast under darker scenes remained. (The darker scenes looked considerably worse than on my laptop's LCD display -- which is surprising, considering this projector is spec'ed to have a 2000:1 contrast ratio). Conclusion: This projector is fine (and a nice low-cost option) for non-photographic, computer presentation purposes, but not adequate for watching movies (especially the darker scenes). |

| Darker scenes and elements in movies look very muddy, dark, and has little contrast/details. |
