| Yes, there are projectors with better resolution, yes there are projectors with more brightness, but for the price-you'll be blown away! I am! Having it for a year now, watching on Sharp 7 foot manual pull-down screen every movie is a thrill! This baby is multi voltage (110-220V) as well as multi system (NTSC & PAL). Bought it in States and using it in Europe, mostly for DVD movies. Without any problem survived three airports in carry-on luggage, so I guess reliability is proven. I don't even use it on full power but on 1100 ANSI (1700 is max), which makes fan noise almost inaudible. Also lowered picture setting to true colour, brightness to -9 and sharpness to -3. Crazy? Not in the completely dark room. When your eyes adjust to the picture you'll think you're in your local cinemax, my word for it! Lamp life will go in that case up to 3000 hrs and when the time comes for replacement you'll thank yourself for being smart, because it's lamp is only about $300, lowest of the bunch (best to my knowledge). If you like big movies on the budget this is the thing to go for, plasmas and LCDs are just another type of tv. Just one little trouble: to connect component output from DVD to DB15 input on the projector to get ultimate picture quality you'll need special adapter which is close to impossible to find. But if you stick with s-video you'll be just fine too. Also, more keystone adjustments wouldn't be amiss, but hey, we are on the budget here, so my last: for the price-KILLER! Get it while you can! |
