| Product specs of VW100 make me scratch my head. It takes for SONY a projector weighing in at a hefty 42 pounds to output 800 measily ANSI lumens? What's up with that? This baby must win the "lumen per pound" ratio by being the heaviest anchor for its stated light output, which is really just too low these days. Also, a 0.6-inch diagonal wide screen image sensor is just too darn small. And the 610 Watt power usage is not something to sneeze at, either. With respect to the price attached by Sony to the VW100's replacement xenon bulb, it is amazing that one can purchase a 1,000 Watt xenon lamp for a 35mm Christie or Kinoton film projector for LESS MONEY than the lamp goes for this "home theater" Sony unit. The unit also lacks a built-in reference speaker (handy when the PJ is housed in a separate projection booth), and lacks wired or wireless computer control capability. A few things to ponder over. |
