| Bought the Epson 550 from a local retailer who had it on sale for $2300. (Replaced my 6 year old Sony VPL-W400Q.) Also bought a 4 year warranty for $435 that includes 2 new lamps - good deal for peace of mind, and cheaper than two new lamps alone! With all the reliability problems of BenQ 7700's, Sanyo Z2-4's, etc., I went with Epson for reputation, warranty and local authorized dealer. Image with the Oppo player is amazing and thoroughly engaging - looks like HD programming with good DVD's. My 550 is bright, sharp, has perfect LCD alignment. Lens shift allows for almost any placement scenario. Also considered AE900, Z4, PE7700, HD72, and IN76, but only the Epson was available to demo locally. Also, too many lamp trouble reports on AE900, Z4 and PE7700 for me - Epson has much better reputation from what I can see. I like Epson's pricing - local retailers can compete with internet dealers since it's MSRP is not artificially high. |

| I don't really like the shape of the remote - too rounded, slippery, and bulky for my taste. Menu structure could be better - too many menu levels for some frequent adjustments. |
