My first PJ and I am blown away. I researched for about 3 months and finally decided to buy the H31 b/c of all of the positive reviews and b/c of the insane pricing that be found online. I've logged about 10 hours on it with all types of formats and this thing is much brighter and sharper than I thought any projector under $1000 could be. I threw it on my wall in the middle of the day and it was incredbile. The blacks are washed out with ambient light, but everything else stays pretty sharp considering this thing only has 350 lumens (optimized). I put it through DVE and had to change very little, brightness and gamma mostly. right now im just using my white wall until i get a screen and its still jaw-dropping. Make no mistake; if you can control the ambient light or if you use it after sundown, this projector is the best bang-for-buck HANDS DOWN.
Problems
-gives off some heat (but not as much as everyone is saying), be careful to not use it if your room temp is above 85 or so. i dont have AC so this can sometimes be an issue. you can run it for 2 hours and put your hand on the hottest part (the metal insignia on the top) and its still not that uncomfortable. -i dont like that the power cable is on a different side of the projector than the inputs, it makes it so you have to run 2 ways of cable if you ceiling mount. -fairly long on/off time. but seriously, for $600 BRAND NEW ($100 mail-in rebate, off Amazon) none of these problems mean anything. i dont care what ANYONE says, this thing is much better than the Infocus 4805 and you cant find a 4805 USED for less than $600. Unbelievable.
