Personal Experience
I've owned my Ruby for three months now. It produces the finest picture on any TV I've ever seen, and I seen a few well invested home theaters. Using a Stewart Firehawk 100 inch screen, I get the "best" picture without the auto-iris, which tends to darken the picture too much. I got my Ruby for under $9000 (they're cheaper if you are willing to chance an on-line purchase). Anyway, the projector's performance has exceeded all my expectations. Regular DVDs look fine on my Pioneer DV 59A (which handles standard DVDs much better than the Toshiba HDA1). But HD DVD, WOW! Even through the component inputs, the picture is nothing short of stunning.
Problems
My only complaint is the fairly unobtrusive light overspill around the screen, which only shows up on some sources. I will solve the problem with black felt when the spirit moves me. Anyway, If you are considering a Ruby, you can't go wrong.
