Personal Experience
Excellent value projector, especially if one receives the bonus screen and replacement lamp. We were pleased by the relatively quick response and delivery of bonus items. (It may have accelerated by our use of certified mail delivery to the fulfillment center) Overall, our experience has been favorable. The image quality is outstanding, even in a room with some ambient light. The image adjustments are excellent. The abundance of input connections is appreciated, since we have several sources: two components (DVD, Video Games), S-Video (Video Game), Composite (VCR, Tuner, 2 games, via switchbox), and VGA (PC). In the near future, an HDTV tuner may utilize the HDMI input. Our original target budget led us to consider the Sharp XR-10X, at a local warehouse club. However, the added value of the bonus items (and no sales tax) reduced the price differential to only $50. It was a no-brainer to go with the Z4.
Problems
The automatic shutdown after 5 minutes of no signal has a slight fluke. When you try to power it up, before it has finished its cooling cycle, it responds with an error (via blinking LEDs) that suggests the bulb may have burned up and needs replacing. If one is involved in trouble shooting multiple video sources, make sure that you feed it something while altering connections. It will save you anguished D'Ohs!
