Stop rite here and buy this projector....awesome. I have had it hooked up for two weeks. read 125 reviews debating between the panasonic 900 and this. glad I made this choice. on 120 inch screen it looks better than any tv I ever owned. ( I am rite at the minimum ceiling mounted at 12 feet) I was very concerned about the screen door effect because of everything I read. Believe me, i seen more screen door on my 55 inch rear projection. Unless you are watching video from 4 feet away you will never even notice. I doubt many reading this will be using it for presentaions but I guess you may have to adhere to to the 1.5 ratio if so. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE IDIOT THAT WROTE DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU PLAN ON GOING 120 OR BIGGER. I almost let that review talk me out of getting this machine. I am not a video expert but I have owned a rear projector and saw a 1080I 60 inch rear projector at my neighbors house so I kind of used those two things as my measuring stick. This machine is awesome and everyone that comes over cannot believe what I paid for it. Before you let the guy at the video store talk you into a $10,000 projector, try this thing first you will not be dissapointed. I did splurge a little and get the 120 inch fixed Elite screen, High Contrast Grey 1.3 gain ($400) Some projector people cut down this screen but it was so easy to put together and I think the Grey really adds to the contrast when I have a light on. Thats another thing...I have a dedicated room 20 X 20 with no ambient lite. If you can control your lite pretty well than you should be fine...but get the grey screen to go with it cause from what I have read it will help out the contrast. I chose not to do the painting thing because it sounded like, if you wanted to do it rite you were going to be dealing with a big mess and for what I paid for this screen ...well enough said. ( I am sure the 92 inch luma would work fine too that comes with it rite now on the rebate) I never seen the Panny but one review made me get this one instead. It said that Pannasonic was so concerned with screen door that they put in that "smooth technology" and it made it look kind of softer and not as sharp. I believed it and again glad I made the choice on the Sanyo. You will read a lot of expert stuff about picture calibration, color, blah blah. Lets put it this way..I was concerned because of a couple of reviews and bot the Avia calibration CD, and watched it before the projector got here( one word on that cd...they need to update it because it looks like it was made in 1979...did not even talk about lcd and dlp projectors or HDMI connection, it does look like it is usable though. Anyway...I have not even bothered putting the disc in the DVD player. Unless your name is Joe Video...you will love this thing rite out of the box. Get an upconverting DVD. I bot the sony DVP-NS75H for $129 and It is smoking. It looks as good as any movie on the Hi Def channels off of cable. I watched my Panthers get there butts kicked the other day and hate to say it but enjoyed the whole game. People from the neighborhood kept dropping in and said that I would never need to go to a game now. So true...I really would never spend the money to go to 1080I projector. this thing takes that signal and makes it look awesome. That is the last thing I want to cover, one review said make sure that the cable box is shooting out the same signal as the naitive resolution on the Projector (720P)...forget that stuff too. Let the Sanyo do its thing and dont fool with it because I did and the 720 looked worse than just letting it down convert it. Good luck and I hope you get this...It has made my family and friends just say WOW!!!! Ok one last thing....I also picked up that 7.1 sony str dg800,($400 does not have and on screen display:( but It lets you put 2 hdmi connections in so you only need to feed one to projector...pretty cool. It also took my old regular XBox and converted my svideo connection up to componet.(I am using both hdmi and the componet imputs on projector) Xbox put out the atari collection in 1080I..I am 42 yrs old so I love my astroids....this is the only regular XBOX game I have seen in 1080I ...most are in 480!!! I just remembered that so I am going to run up and see how it looks now! Good luck on your purchase! |
