I've had the Z4 for just over 10 hours of use, so it's still relatively new. However, I am beyond impressed (enough so that I had to write this review). This is because, 1. I have made no adjustments to the image and 2. I do not yet have the screen that I have ordered. (I imagine the image quality will improve with a screen versus projecting on a tan/textured wall) While I'm no "videophile", I do consider myself savvy with home electronics and recognize a good image versus a lesser image. Before purchasing, I struggled with whether to purchase this projector or a more expensive 61" 1080 rear projector television. I went with the Z4 for the cinematic impact of movies and for football viewing. The Z4 image is arguably more natural (maybe equally clear) than the 1080 rear projector that I almost bought (which very much surprised me) and definitely more comfortable for extended viewing in a dark room ... The Z4 is probably somewhat less bright/vibrant than the rear projector which would make a difference if you use it in a room that you plan to keep lit while watching (for example you want to play pool in the same room). I have the projector in a lower level with minimal (but some) ambient light from two windows, and the brightness is perfect for me and my wife (and we could make it brighter my using a brighter preset configuration if we chose ... we use the "natural" setting). Very cinematic appearance. Finally, the price with the rebate(s) was shockingly good and puts a high quality projector well within reach of anyone shopping locally for a 50" or larger plasma or rear projection TV. I highly recommend this as a value-oriented and quality-oriented alternative if you have the space. Also, the fact is that buying a projector means more work to install.
I have an upconverting DVD with HDMI output through which I also run an XBox (just the power cord and HDMI run to the projector). I also use a Pioneer Elite THX receiver connected to five B&W speakers. It's a terrific system for movies and sports. |

| No problems. It does help to read the manual a bit before using the projector. |
