Personal Experience
I have used this projector for about 300 hours in a home theater setting. The picture is quite satisfactory for a unit using an SVGA chip. Brightness levels are acceptable if the ambient light is well controlled. Scaling is decent and rainbow artifacts are not particulary troublesome (though they are frequently present). Contrast is too low for movies with dark scenes. However, these units are available at bargain prices and represent a very economical introduction to front projection.

Problems
As indicated in a previous review, the lamps used for the UP800 are a problem -- they do not "fire" easily and require replacement long before the end of their purported 1000 hour life. Also, as indicated in a previous review, the remote control is essentially useless (because it must be aimed precisely at the unit's IR sensor). Projector is quite loud.
