| Personal Experience |
| I just purchased the Optoma H31 and have been enjoying it for a week now. Having owned both LCD and DLP projectors in the past, I very much prefer the DLP-based system dut to what I feel is a better, cleaner, more precise picture overall. The H31 arrived, and in a few minutes I had it up and running--the "home theater" logo lighting up the wall as the machine purred to life. The projector automatically searches for your input signal and locks onto it, which is a nice feature. I'm using component video in, and the image is spot on: a sharp, nuanced picture, with very nice blacks and crisp colors right out of the box. Watched 5th Element, Star Wars: A New Hope, and a few other "big" movies, and everything looks simply amazing. One of my family members is usually pretty cynical about anything new, but in moments he was engrossed in the movie I had on just to tweak the machine! I've been reading up a bit more, and I'm considering an upconverting DVD player in the next few days. This is not to say that the picture isn't excellent already. It certainly is! But with its DVI-in, and HD capable digital interface, I understand the H31 can go to even greater heights--once I figure out how to patch in a DVI signal from, say a Samsung HD960. |
