Editor's Choice Awards Announced
— Mar 10, 2009
After spending a week with the JVC RS10 and RS20, we have decided to grant them both an Editor's Choice Award. These are great projectors, at price points of about $5,000 and $7,500 respectively. We could not decide which of the two represented the better value proposition, as the RS20 certainly delivers an incrementally better picture for the money, and the RS10 delivers an incrementally better picture than the lower priced competition. Essentially, you get what you pay for. The review will be done and posted by about the middle of the week.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Editor's Choice Award has also been given to the Panasonic PT-AE3000U. At $2,500, the AE3000 is a thoroughly solid performer with a beautifully refined, virtually analog-like image. In addition, it is absolutely loaded with features, a number of which not appearing on any other home theater projectors. We are pleased to give the Panasonic AE3000 our highest honor and strongest recommendation.
In other developments, we were originally planning to head down to Epson headquarters in Long Beach for a meeting tomorrow, but Epson has asked for a bit more time to set up some review samples for us to look at when we get there. Accordingly, the review of the Epson 6100 is on hold for the time being.
The Optoma HD8200 has arrived, and is next in line for review after the JVC models.
