More review news - 7/7/11

The Acer K11 pocket projector review has just been posted, and we've got a change in the previous schedule...

If you are looking for a tiny, 200-lumen projector that will run forever (or for 30,000 hours, whichever comes first), then the Acer K11 might be just the ticket. See the review of the Acer K11 just posted.

We had expected the Sony VPL-HW30ES to arrive by now, but all that was available was a pre-production sample. Sony understandably would prefer to provide a production unit for review. So this review will be rescheduled as soon as a production unit becomes available.

Meanwhile, the Vivitek H1081 review is being finalized and will be posted tomorrow. This is Vivitek's entry-level, sub-$1,000 1080p home theater model.

And if you need a projector with a LOT more 1080p muscle, the new Epson Pro G5450WUNL is not to be missed. In a nutshell... 1920x1200 resolution, 4000 lumens, for only $2600. A review of this projector will be posted early next week.

i'm looking to buy a projector to watch movies in my suite with my roommates.. are there any decent quality ones that aren't huge or exorbitantly priced that you would recommend?

Several 'pubs' in our town have begun offering movie nights a few times a month. I think it is a great concept but have not been impressed with the quality of video on offer. I wonder if the new epson might work for this application. Clearly 4000 lumens would allow for large screen sizes but does it also produce a quality video image?

I'll be interested to see the review!
