HT Projector reviews -- update 10/12

Plans have changed for the posting of the ViewSonic Pro9000 review...

We spent the last two weeks taking a close look at the ViewSonic Pro9000, a 1080p home theater projector featuring a 20,000 hour hybrid LED/Laser light source. The review is mostly compiled, and I was anticipating publication earlier this week. However, in doing some final fact checking we discovered that at least one substantive change has been made to production units that was not incorporated into the pre-production test sample we currently have. This change has a material impact on image quality, and thus the evaluation in the review. Since final production samples are expected to be available in another week or two, we have decided to postpone the review until we have a chance to evaluate the final production unit.

Meanwhile, the Epson 3020e has arrived, and is now in review. That review will be completed by the end of next week. The Epson 5020 should follow shortly.

could you please mention in your review if the LED laser is damaging to the eyes if the beam hits the eye directly (as frequently happens with the mercury lamp when I return to my seat)? If there is damage, is the damage worse than any possible damage from a mercury lamp? Also, how does the picture compare with Sony vpl VW95, and vpl hw50?

Is there any particular reason for not disclosing the 'material change'? Should Viewsonic allow disclosure, a little more information would help fill the void.

the Laser/LED is going to make the bulb projectors totally obsolete ... the 9000 has a killer picture ...
